Shakespeare: Up Close and Personal

Praise for last year's The Tempest...

“The performance was spectacular and the students had so many great things to say the next day! What a wonderful experience for them and for us. Furthermore, the students had so many questions! We figured that they would watch and then quickly rush out, but they had so many great things to ask. What a testament to the effectiveness of your cast!”

The Tempest: 2011

Hamptons Shakespeare is proud to announce the continuation of our Shakespeare in the Schools program for 2012 with the fascinating and hilarious Taming of the Shrew.

Begun last year with The Tempest, this exciting program brings live, professional productions of Shakespeare's plays directly to schools in the greater New York area.

These productions, specially designed for student audiences, are intimate, immediate and highly portable. They feature small casts of versatile and talented actors and minimal sets. The focus is on the language an the physical presence of the actor - just as it was in Shakespeare's day.

Productions are accompanied by in-class workshops led by members of the cast, which can be tailored to meet the needs of your students. The topics can range from Shakespeare's language to physical theater and improvisation.
