The Taming of the SHREW

Following on this year’s tremendously successful school tour of The Tempest, Hamptons Shakespeare Festival is thrilled to announce more Shakespearean revelry coming in 2012. Once again, this is Shakespeare as you’ve never seen him before. Specially conceived for student audiences, our production of The Taming of the Shrew distills the Bard’s comic gem into an hour of hilarity, outrage, slapstick, disguises, and true love.

Performed by an ensemble of talented and versatile actors, The Taming of the Shrew tells the tale of headstrong Kate, wooed to within an inch of her life by fortune seeking Petruchio. Hear the power and humor of Shakespeare’s poetry spoken by ruffians and lovers in this rousing and touching tale.

We are also pleased to offer optional workshops in individual classrooms on a variety of topics from Shakespeare’s language to performance techniques. These can be tailored to the needs of the classroom and feature a cast member from the production.
